Yet we rarely use them all. Nearly eight in 10 people use just three (or fewer) of their apps. Abandon rates are astronomical; the average app loses more than a quarter of its daily users within three days of launch. The most popular reason for deleting a mobile app: “I rarely used it.”

This is something enterprises need to pay attention to. Employees are consumers, too, after all, which means they behave like consumers. They want enterprise technology that gives them a consumer-oriented experience, and they are just as likely to abandon clunky enterprise software as they are to delete unused personal apps from their smartphones.

The tansition to mobile has taught corporate IT departments a hard lesson. Many invested heavily in full featured mobile apps that mirror the functionality of desktop enterprise software, only to have them ditched by employees in favor of easier-to-use consumer apps.
